Sandeep Lamichhane is Nepali National Cricketer Player. He is a right-handed leg spin bowler. He received huge acclamation after he succeeded to take first wicket in his first debut match as a Nepalese Player in Indian Premiere League (IPL).
Sandeep Lamichane belongs to a middle-class Nepalese family of Arjunchaupari Rural Municipality Aaruchaur, Talpokhari in Syangja district. He was blessed to his father Chandra Narayan Lamichhane, an employee in Indian Railway and mother is normal housewife. He has a brother namely Mohan Lamichhane and has a sister named Indu Lamichhane. He was taken to India for his higher studies and uplifting career by his dad. There he completed his studies up-to the four class and returned back to the country. He loved Cricket from the very childhood and started playing this game with his friends.
His career in Cricket
Soon after few years his family shifted to Chitwan where he joined Chitwan Cricket Academy. He was instructed by Raju Khadka there. He was successful to show his talents and skills there itself in the academy. National coach of National Cricket Team Nepal, Pubudu Dassanayake used to make a routine visit to Campa Chaur, Narayangarh.
Selection in U-19
This was the place which caught the eye of the couch onto his skills. Finally he made his List A debut in the 2015–17 ICC World Cricket League Championship on 16 April 2016 against Namibia on Kirtipur Ground. Prior to his List A debut, he was named in Nepal’s under-19 squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Similarly with breakthrough achievement in their 2nd match against Ireland U-19 team, he took a hat-trick in the 32nd over of the match claiming the wickets of Lorcan Tucker, Adam Dennison and Fiachra Tucker.
Selected for National Team
This pulled out more attention towards him. It was the time in September 2016 that Lamichhane received a letter from former Australian captain Michael Clarke, inviting him to play at the Sydney-based Western Suburbs District Cricket Club. This can be considered as the milestone path towards his successful career. That is the reason he considers Michael Clarke as his fortune maker. Similarly making further records on and being selected for U-19 time, he took bowling figures of 5/8 which restricted Malaysia U-19 team to total runs of 45. This also proved him to have more potential on him. Finally he was selected under National Team for ICC World Cup Division-2 and against Namibia he took four wickets just by giving 18 runs.
Selection for IPL
In January 2018, he was included in the list of players for auction in the 2018 Indian Premier League where his base price is ₹20 lakhs. He was bought by Delhi Daredevils at his base price and became the first Nepalese cricketer to get a contract in the Indian Premier League. He took a wicket for 25 runs on his debut match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. He was praised all over the world and even Indian Prime Minister Took his name during his visit to Nepal.
So after his IPL debut and his wicket he was added to the ICC Rest of the World XI team, for the Twenty20 International match against the West Indies. This is another heart taking success in his career.
